How We Got Here
NJcEDH is a New Jersey based competitive Commander community built by players who wanted a better way to play the game they love the way they want to play it. What started as long drives across state lines in search of high-powered tables became a realization that New Jersey deserved its own home for competitive EDH.
Two paths led to the same idea.
On one side, DJ and a close group of friends were traveling throughout the Tri-State area chasing tournaments, building friendships, and discovering just how passionate the players were and how underserved the regional competitive scene had been. He set out to build events that would put New Jersey on the map.
On the other side, Landers was experiencing the same challenge from a different angle. After the pandemic reshaped local game stores and scattered player communities, he recognized that many players had lost their place to gather. He set out to rebuild that sense of community through something local, accessible, and consistent.
When these efforts met, NJcEDH took shape. Together, with old friends and early community members, NJcEDH grew into a recognizable brand that players could trust and stores could confidently host.
Today, we hold events across multiple locations, with clear rules, reliable organization, and a welcoming atmosphere. And it is still run by players. If you attend an event, you will hear our voices echoing in the room (some louder than others), and see us standing beside you at the tables, jamming games between rounds.
For players, NJcEDH offers a dependable competitive environment without the need for long travel or uncertainty. For store owners, NJcEDH provides a proven event framework, promotion, and a built-in player network ready to show up and play.
We are here for a simple reason: To give cEDH, and its players, a true home in New Jersey.
